Double Chocolate Magic Cookie Bars
Bake time: 25-30 minutes
Ingredients
Crust
- 2 cups Oreo crumbs (about 24 cookies, finely crushed)
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
Binder
- 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
Toppings
- 2 cups shredded sweetened coconut
- 1 to 1½ cups baking M&Ms (mini M&Ms or "baking bits" work best as they don't sink as much)
Instructions
- Prep. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 13x9 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- The Base. Press the Oreo crumb and butter mixture firmly into the bottom of the pan to form an even layer.
- The Glue. Pour the entire can of sweetened condensed milk evenly over the crust.
- The Toppings. Sprinkle the shredded coconut evenly over the milk, then top with the M&Ms. Lightly press the toppings down with a fork.
- Bake. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until the coconut is lightly toasted and the edges are bubbling.
- Cool. These must be cooled completely before cutting, or they will fall apart.
Important: Allow the bars to cool completely before cutting. This is essential for clean cuts and to prevent the bars from falling apart.
